RACE
FWD COMPACTS RULES - Safety
- All drivers must wear a full flame retardant racing suit.
- All drivers must where an approved racing helmet.
- All drivers must use a head/neck restraint at all time.
- All cars must
have a driver’s side window net at all time.
- Racing Seat is ALLOWED and
STONGLY RECOMMENDED.
- If stock seat is used, all adjustment points must be welded
or bolted in place with the frame/cage of the car.
- All cars must have an approved
5-point harness, and it must be mounted to cage in order to compete.
- Engine
- Any four or six cylinder front wheel drive cars are eligible.
- 4 CYLINDER, REAR WHEEL DRIVE CARS ARE ALLOWED (no turbo)
- No all wheel drives, and only 4 cylinders permitted in RWD Cars.
- No turbo or rotary engines will be permitted.
- Suspension
- Steering and suspension parts must remain stock. OEM style shocks, struts, and
springs ONLY.
- Camber adjustments can be made to cars, but must use stock
parts.
- Cars must have full stock frame, stock firewall, and stock floor pan.
- All brakes must remain stock, no ABS or Traction Control.
- Cage
- A full four or six points cage is required.
- At least three doors bars on drivers and passenger side of cage.
- At least a 1/8” thick steel plate must be on driver’s side of car.
- All doors must be welded or bolted shut at all times.
- Fuel
tanks must be secured at all times, fuel cells are allowed, recommended to be in front or above re-axels.
- Final Decision is up to Tech Officials
- Wings
- Any wings will be allowed, as long they are safely secured at all times
- Be creative, but be safe, if wings are deemed a hazard, you will not run them.
- Body
- All exterior trim, lights, moldings, mirrors, etc.
must be removed.
- Any holes in firewall must be covered.
- Car must have stock body, sheet metal can be use to extend or modify body.
- Cars must have stock quarter panels, doors, roof, and truck.
- Modified
hood, fenders, and nose will be allowed.
- Again be creative, but also be safe,
if it is deemed unsafe, you will not run.
- All glass must be removed, besides
front windshield; however lexan can be used for front windshield.
- All interior
flammable parts must be removed interior and trunk compartment.
- All stock roofs
must remain; you can add wings to the top.
- All sunroofs must be covered, but
can be used as an exit if it is hinged.
- Bumpers
- All bumpers and rumbrails must be safely secured to the car, and must be caped/rounded at the ends
for safety.
- Tires
- D.O.T.
approved passenger car tires only, no “made for racing” tires.
- NO SOAKING TIRES
- No low profile tires
- 13”, 14”, or 15” wheels are allowed.
- Final
Decision will be up to the decision of the IOFS Tech Inspector.
7/12 Scott County 1 Hour Enduro Scottsburg, IN ($1000 to win top 10 payout) SPECIAL RULES RACE
Rules For This Race Rules F.W.D. cars (Front Wheel Drive cars). This division is for Novices.These cars are not intended to be performance,
race-type vehicles. These cars are to be stock with only modifications outlined below. The goal is to have inexpensive cars
to race. Any effort to make them lighter, go faster or handle better is illegal. Only modifications for safety outlined herein
are allowed. The car of
the winner may be claimed by any other competitor outside the top 3 that finishes within 2 laps of the winner and is in good
running order at the end of the feature. Claiming driver must have $500 and be prepared to exchange their car for car being
claimed. Easily removable safety equipment, i.e. driver seat, fire systems, belts, etc. may be removed before claim. Drivers
wishing to claim may do so by notifying the tech official or race director before feature and must do so in cash. Management
has the right to refuse any claim for any reason. Management has the right to claim any car for $500. Any
car claimed by management will be auctioned back to the drivers in the post race area. Highest bidder must
pay cash.
Section A: Eligible Cars 1. The cars can be foreign or domestic and must be front wheel drive. 2. The cars must be 4 cylinder & not newer than 2005. Manual transmissions are allowed. 3. The wheelbase must be between 97” and 108”.
Section B: Engine & Transmission 1. Engine and transmission must be installed in the make and model for which it arrived
from the factory. 2. Everything under the hood must be O.E.M., and
in stock location without any modifications. 3. Heater
Cores and A/C condensers may be removed, however the stock housing must remain in place. 4. No Echo Tech, turbo, or rotary engines are permitted. 5. Exhaust must remain in stock location. The catalytic converter and the muffler may be removed. 6. Radiator overflow bottles must have a 1-gallon capacity and remain in stock location. 7. Extra coolers for the transmission only must be mounted in front of radiator.
Section C: Suspension, Wheels, Tires and Brakes 1. All four tires must be the same size. Tires must be standard D.O.T.
series and must be the same size on all four corners. Tires must have standard road tread design (not performance or snow
tread) and are subject to tech approval. 2. All
suspension components must remain stock and unaltered. 3. No spacers, knuckle busters, rubbers, lumber or chains may be used to alter stock suspension or for any other
reason. 4. Brakes must work on all four wheels. 5. Aluminum wheels are permitted. Maximum offset variance is 1 inch from stock. Front camber may be
2” maximum and rear camber may be 1” maximum.
Section D: Body Frame and Interior 1. All exterior body components must remain stock. All chrome and
plastic must be removed from the outer body. No dirt wings or scoops. 2. No lightening or gutting of the car will be allowed, except where outlined below. Doors must be
welded or chained shut. Hinges and latches may be unbolted (not cut) from hood. Battery may be relocated behind the driver’s
seat, securely bolted to the floor and covered
